Meet The Preschool Educators

Forty Carrots Family Center’s Co-Founder and Executive Director, Betsy Kane-Hartnett oversees all aspects of Forty Carrots Family Center. Betsy, with a B.S. in Human Development & Family Studies and a M.A. in Curriculum Design, is an early childhood specialist.


The Preschool Teachers are under the direct supervision of Preschool Director, Susie Wells.

Susie Wells, A.S. ECE, B.A. Human Development, Forty Carrots’ Preschool Director. Susie will work together with staff, children and families to offer a supportive and engaging environment. In addition to her work at Forty Carrots, Susie has been the Director at Community Presbyterian Preschool, Education Coordinator at the Early Childhood Center at Church of the Palms, and opened a preschool, Building Blocks, in Indiana prior to moving to Sarasota.

Susan Carney, CDA, a Forty Carrots teacher since 1998.  In addition to her work at Forty Carrots, Susan has attended NAEYC national conferences and has taken additional college classes in early childhood education.
 
Mary Jane Hathaway who teaches all ages wherever needed. Mary Jane has been working at Forty Carrots for 9 years in different areas including Sandbox, Partners In Play, Outreach Program and Junior teacher.

Stefanie Lynn Hill, (CDA, BA, MMAFT) a Forty Carrots teacher who currently teaches 3 year olds. Stefanie is originally Fredericksburg, Virginia. Stefanie achieved her CDA from SCTI, her BA in social work from Ferrum College, and her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Argosy University. 

Debbie Johnson, CDA certificate, a Forty Carrots teacher since 1993.  Debbie has taught juniors, seniors and is currently going into her 7th year as a teacher. She is also active in attending OT with her students. 
  
Kim Schnathmann, B.S. Elementary Education. Forty Carrots Teacher since 2007. Kim currently teaches 3 and 4 year olds in wing 2 in the Davis class. In addition to her work at Forty Carrots Kim has previously taught at the elementary level for 16 years in both public and private schools locally. She also continues to privately tutor at this level.

Amanda Walker, M.A., has taught at Forty Carrots since 2005. Before obtaining her master's degrees, Amanda achieved a B.A. in Psychology from the University of South Florida. In addition to her work at Forty Carrots, Amanda has worked as a caregiver for developmentally challenged and gifted preschoolers. She has also worked as a mentor for troubled teens.
